Abstract摘要
Quantum computers are becoming promisingly powerful on solving practical problems. The biggest challenge now is to overcome noise in quantum systems and implement fault-tolerant memory and computations. In this talk, I will show how fault-tolerant quantum computer can be achieved through quantum error correction(QEC), using a simplest example Shor code. I will show the magic of QEC to get around the no-cloning theorem and uncertainty principle, while preserving encoded logical information. I will bring together critical components of QEC, including distance, encoding rate/resource overhead, decoding, and noise threshold. Some recent progress on decoding quantum subsystem product codes(Zeng & Pryadko 2020) will be discussed.
个人简介:
Dr. Zeng received his bachelor degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2015. Then he went to University of California, Riverside, and got a PhD degree in physics, guided by Prof. Leonid Pryadko. After that, he did a Postdoc in Prof Kenneth R. Brown's group at Duke Quantum Center. He also worked at Bell Labs, Pengcheng Lab, and Xanadu Quantum Inc. He is now a researcher at the Research Center for Intelligent Supercomputing, Zhejiang Lab, focusing on the theoretical aspects of quantum error correction and fault-tolerant quantum computation.
