  • Abstract摘要

    The shell structure and magic numbers are cornerstone concepts in nuclear physics, crucial for understanding the stability and structure of atomic nuclei. These magic numbers have been attributed to a strong spin-orbit (SO) interaction within the nucleon single-particle potential, resulting in a pronounced energy splitting between spin doublets. Despite its importance, the microscopic origin of the substantial SO interaction, particularly from free-space realistic nuclear forces, remains unresolved. In this study, we investigate the evolution of nuclear shell structure as a function of the momentum resolution of nuclear forces derived from chiral effective field theory. Our results reveal the novel picture of transition from spin symmetry to pseudospin symmetry in nuclear shell structure as nuclear forces are evolved to lower energy scales. This picture is also exhibited in the study based on relativistic one-boson-exchange potentials. These findings provide a novel explanation for the origin of magic numbers in low-energy nuclear shell structure and open new avenues for investigating the change of shell structure in nuclei far from the stability line.

    Biography

    尧江明,中山大学物理与天文学院教授。2004年获得南开大学学士学位, 2009年获得北京大学粒子物理与核物理专业博士学位。先后在西南大学、布鲁塞尔自由大学、日本东北大学、北卡罗来纳大学教堂山分校和密歇根州立大学从事科研工作。2021年入职中山大学担任全职教授。尧教授主要从事原子核结构与衰变等方面课题研究,先后发展了原子核多参考态协变密度泛函理论以及介质生成坐标方法,并将其应用于原子集体激发以及无中微子双贝塔衰变等课题研究,首次在手征有效场论框架下实现了候选核无中微子双贝塔衰变核矩阵元的从头计算。在Physical Review Letters,Physics Letters B, Physical Review C等主流物理期刊上发表论文100余篇,受邀在Progress in Particle and Nuclear Physics期刊撰写相关综述论文。
