  • Abstract摘要

In this talk I provide an overview of the functional QCD results on the QCD phase structure at high density. The access to this regime is facilitated by the fact that functional QCD (functional renormalisation group flows, Dyson-Schwinger equations) allows direct computations at finite density. Specifically, I discuss the location of the chiral crossover line, the physics of the regime with the onset of new physics including a potential critical end point and a moat regime as well as their experimental signals. The discussion of the results is accompanied by one of the complementarity of functional QCD and lattice QCD for the access to the phase structure of QCD as well as the control of the respective systematic errors at finite density.

    Biography

Professor Jan M. Pawlowski is a theoretical physicist at Heidelberg University. He received his PhD in physics from Heidelberg University in 1994 and has held research positions at Jena, Dublin, Tübingen, and Erlangen. His research focuses on nonperturbative quantum field theory, especially the functional renormalization group, with applications to the QCD phase diagram, strongly interacting matter, quantum gravity, and non-equilibrium quantum systems. At Heidelberg, he is a Principal Investigator in the Collaborative Research Center ISOQUANT (SFB 1225) and a member of the Cluster of Excellence STRUCTURES; he also coordinated theory at the Extreme Matter Institute (EMMI). In 2024, he became a PIFI Fellow.
