  • Abstract摘要

The spontaneous conversion of muonium to antimuonium is an interesting charged lepton flavor violation phenomenon that offers a sensitive probe for potential new physics and serves as a tool to constrain the parameter space beyond the Standard Model. The Muonium-to-Antimuonium Conversion Experiment (MACE) was designed to utilize a high-intensity muon beam, a Michel electron magnetic spectrometer, a positron transport system, and a positron detection system to either discover or constrain this rare process at an unprecedented precision. The great bay area (Guangdong-Hongkong-Macao) is surrounded by three accelerator facilities (CSNS: China Spallation Neutron Sounce, HIAF: Heavy Ion Accelerator Facility and CiADS: China initiative Accelerator Driven subcritical System). It is a great opportunity to build accelerator muon sources and conduct fundamental science and technological applications here. This talk will present progress and history for MACE, and the local efforts of a research platform for muon science and technology at Sun Yat-sen University.

    Biography

Jian Tang got his Ph.D from Wuerzburg University in Germany at the end of 2011. He worked as Postdoc researcher at University of Alberta and Max-Planck-Institute for Physics from 2012.02 to 2014.12, working at a DM experiment DEAP-3600 and R&D of Germanium detectors. He started a faculty position at Sun Yat-sen University since January in 2015, working at lepton flavor physics and participating into international collaborative experiments including JUNO and COMET. He is establishing the Platform for Muon Science and Technology at Sun Yat-sen University. He serves as a member of the Advisory Committee for the international workshop NuFact, a young editorial board member of Frontiers of Physics. He was selected as a "Young Outstanding Talent" of the Center for Excellence in Particle Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2019 and 2020.
